This week many events took place that made me put my own life into perspective...how fragile we are as human beings and how unexpected incidents can turn our entire lives upside down- for the better and for the worse. And why is it that Western Massachusetts seems to be a magnet for sudden sadness? Until the next series of grim cogitations I would like to continue and embrace more international food photos.
Top: Marinated beef, lentils, corn and spinach you eat with your hands and that gummy wrap type stuff.
Bottom: Peanut tea - aka liquid PB. Thanks Maleia for this delightful lunch on a gorgeous Boston day
And also for the tour of NEC! [she works a sweet sweet job]
Truffles at Canady Le Chocolatier - 824 S. Wabash, Chicago IL
Marzipan goodness...and a Neapolitan that will blow your mind.
Irony: they host a "Stop Diabetes" support fund box.

Homemade concoction, Hell's Kitchen style, at 2:00 AM in an apartment in Jamaica Plain.
...Don't ask...sufficed to say many jokes were made that night that shall never be repeated in public. Ever.

El Oriental de Cuba! 416 Centre St. Jamaica Plain MA
Left: Plantains and rice and beans right from the Island!
Right: Succulent beef tamale with fresh grilled onions
Middle: Cashew Juice. No kidding. Apparently this is a popular beverage. Nothing like peanut tea. Gyuhhh.
Otherwise, a very satisfying meal with my favourite Miss Smith.

St. Patrick's Day cannot exist in a fatty's life without a Shamrock Shake. Downtown Boston, as aforementioned, was a BLAST that day.
So was the company of a fellow Fredonian baritone.

I've blogged about this meal before but damn was that eggplant good. And check out the bread!

KO Catering and Pies: 87 A Street South Boston
Sam is the owner, head chef and AWESOME dude. Australian meat pies in Southie!
Chock with instructions on how to eat them...and vegemite. I'm no longer a virgin of the yeasty, salty spread.
That sounds so disgusting just saying it.
But the pie- just go for the original. Sam is a wonderful conversationalist and now saved me from being beaten up in a pub down under.
Don't use a fork!

Don't remember where this was. I think there was a lot of IPA and bean guacamole involved.
